I spent over four months shopping for an airplane and talked to over 10 different owners during that time. When I called on a Beechcraft Debonair, I found out it was being handled by DC Aircraft Sales.  I spoke to Doug Child of DC Aircraft Sales and found the experience of negotiating through an aircraft broker, specifically Doug Child, much MUCH easier than speaking directly to an owner.  I was able to be very candid with my questions.  Every owner thinks their airplane is perfect and special.  This makes it difficult to gather the information you need and not offend an owner, especially when it comes time to talk about sales price.  Doug Child was very responsive in gathering answers to my questions and he is a good listener. The day I picked-up “my Debonair”, the previous owner and I agreed that we would have never made this deal on our own.  It took the patience and help of Doug Child to gather the information and arrive at an agreeable price.  I strongly recommend sellers use an aircraft broker like Doug Child of DC Aircraft Sales because it is difficult to discuss the squawks, concerns and value of another person’s pride and joy without offending them.  It is very akin to looking at someone’s house for sale with the owner standing there versus discussing it with a realtor.  It is just much easier to communicate with an aircraft broker rather than the owner.  I had a great experience with Doug Child.  I still enjoy speaking to him 6 months later and better yet, I speak to the Seller once every month or two.  It is great to leave the transaction and be able to call the Seller and ask how he handled certain situations with the aircraft.  I suggested to Doug Child that he add a testimonial section to his website because I feel that strongly about his abilities to bring a buyer and a seller together.  Thanks Doug!
